How Safe Is Your Water Purifier?

Did you know that water purifiers may use chemicals like Trichlorocyanuric acid (TCCA), nano silver, iodine and bromine? Did you know that there is no regulation or safety standards on the water purifier market by the government in India?
A study conducted by an NGO, Healthy You Foundation, has established that none of the chemical based water purifiers in the Indian market comply with the required safety standards!
The study found that all major brands of water purifiers available in the Indian market do not disclose adequate information to enable consumers to make an informed choice. Information like type of chemicals used, life of filters and other components are not disclosed.
Chemical based purifying systems failed to filter out dissolved solids and proved useless in dealing with hard water. While chemical water purifiers were found to be the worst, the ultraviolet based and reverse osmosis systems performed better.
Boiling seems to be the safest way to purify water!
