Want to Lose Weight? Try Vegetable Juice

Drinking at least one glass of low-sodium vegetable juice daily may help overweight dieters lose more weight.
In a study, adults who drank at least 250 ml of vegetable juice as part of a diet lost 1.8 KGs over 12 weeks, while those who followed the same diet but did not drink the juice lost only 400 grams.
It's possible that vegetable juice helps reduce appetite. In addition, vegetable juice drinkers are more likely to get the recommended 3 to 5 servings of vegetables daily.
Additionally, people who are consume vegetable juices eat less processed and junk food, making them feel better and have more energy, and as a result are more active, which also contributes to shedding excess kilos.
Follow these guidelines
- Avoid bottled juices. These are usually pasteurized or heated and therefore lack the essential micro-nutrients. Freshly made juice on the other hand is therapeutic, nutrient dense and is absorbed easily by the body. Also read Packaged juices are not healthy.
- Do not add sugar. Sugar is one of the primary causes of weight gain. Adding it defeats the purpose.
- Stick to vegetables that grow above the ground. Carrots and beetroots are high in sugar. Use them moderately.
- Consume within 24 hours. Even if refrigetated, juice starts losing its nutritional value. Ideally consume immediately. If you are storing juices, use airtight and dark containers. Oxygen too destroys nutrients in the juice. Fill the container to the brim to reduce air contact.
- Drink juice at room temperature, not chilled.
